Edith González Fuentes (10 December 1964 – 13 June 2019) was a Mexican actress known for her blonde hair and blue eyes, often described as a bombshell and one of the most beautiful performers in Mexican cinema. Her career is most closely associated with telenovelas, and she worked for three major multimedia companies: Televisa, TV Azteca, and Telemundo.
She was born in Mexico City. Discovered at a shopping mall by a Televisa employee while buying shoes with her mother, she entered the film industry with her parents’ support. As a child, she acted in school plays and later studied in New York, London, and Paris, training at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, the Neighborhood Playhouse, and the Actors Institute. She also studied English and art history at the Sorbonne and jazz in Great Britain. At age five, during a visit to the program *Siempre en Domingo*, the audience chose her to act alongside Rafael Baledón. Her first credited acting role was the 1970 Televisa telenovela *Cosa juzgada*. Early telenovela work included *Lucía Sombra*, *La maldición de la blonda*, *El amor tiene cara de mujer*, *El edificio de enfrente*, *Mi primer amor*, *Los miserables* (for which she won a 1974 Heraldo award as revelation artist), and *Lo imperdonable*. Her film debut was the 1974 television film *Canción de Navidad*. Other early films included *El rey de los gorilas*, *Alucarda, la hija de las tinieblas*, *Cyclone*, *Guyana: Crime of the Century*, *Fabricantes de pánico*, and *Cosa fácil*. At 15, she landed her first important television role in *Los ricos también lloran* (1979–1980), sharing credits with Verónica Castro and Rogelio Guerra, and forming a long friendship with co-star Christian Bach. Teenage telenovela roles included *Ambición*, *Soledad*, and *El hogar que yo robé*.
In 1982, she earned her first leading role in *Bianca Vidal* and also appeared in *Chispita*. The following year she acted in *La fiera*. In 1984, she appeared in the film *Adiós Lagunilla, adiós* and starred in the telenovela *Sí, mi amor*. In 1986, she appeared in the anthology *La hora marcada* and the telenovelas *Monte Calvario* (as the lead) and *Lista negra*.
